I was diagnosed with Ovarian and Endometrial cancer on August 9, 2024 (50 years old, no family history). I underwent major surgery and aggressive rounds of chemotherapy. I am proud to say that I have been in remission since February 18, 2025!
One thing that I would like to share is that when I started having issues, the nurse practitioner at my GYN office was very dismissive, telling me that it is just menopause. Fortunately for me, I am a strong advocate for myself and wouldn't leave the office until a test was scheduled. They found an extremely aggressive tumor larger than a grapefruit. If I had listened and waited, I may not be here right now. So PLEASE, be your own advocate, you know your body the best!
I am so fortunate to have an amazing support system, my family and friends are how I made it through this. At home my husband and my cat Fenix were my constant support and amazing nurses. With that being said, there are so many people who don't have this kind of support and that is what makes Support Connection such an unbelievable organization, they get the support they need without paying a penny.
