I am raising funds for the 2023 Support-A-Walk for Breast and Ovarian Cancer presented by Support Connection, Inc. Please help by sponsoring me with a donation!
I have been a volunteer for Support Connection for over 9 years now and joined their Board of Directors last year. Support Connection provides free and confidential emotional, social and educational services to women and their families affected by ovarian and breast cancers. All their counselors are cancer survivors themselves which puts them in the best position to guide women through a very difficult time.
My family has been particularly affected by breast cancer. We lost my sister, Mary, to the disease 19 years ago after a courageous 5 year battle. My sister Maureen is now undergoing breast cancer treatment for the second time in 9 years. I also had two aunts who battled breast cancer. Because of my family history, I'm well aware of how devastating a cancer diagnosis is for the person diagnosed and also the toll it takes on their loved ones. So it's comforting to know that there are other people out there who are going through or have gone through the same frightening time. Once I met the caring counselors, staff, and other volunteers at Support Connection, I knew this was the right organization for me to give my time to. I see how they make such a positive impact on those who turn to them for support.
Support Connection must raise all of the funds for their year-round services, so the Support-A-Walk is a very important event!
