Our team formed after Peggy was diagnosed in late 2005. Mom rallied her troops and knew who just to support - SUPPORT CONNECTION of Yorktown Heights. She was a long time (silent) supporter ever since her mom died from breast cancer. Silent supporter because she was taught to not openly speak those words - Breast Cancer - in public in the 1970's.
We walked for three years as Peggy's Angels but then Carol was diagnosed in 2009. Being a close family, a no better team name of Sister Sister was formed. We have been walking and supporting every year since the start. Through good times and bad times; through dry weather and wet weather; We Walk. We Support.
Our friends are our family and we walk and support as one. On this day we remember past and honor current survivors. So, please, support this worthy, local, ever growing organization. We thank you for your support!!
SUPPORT CONNECTION is a truly unique organization. Since 1996, they have helped thousands of people whose lives have been impacted by breast, ovarian and gynecological cancer. Support Connection provides critically needed counseling, support groups, educational and wellness programs, and resource information – all at no cost to those who need them.
Everyone at Support Connection is passionate about their mission. Their Peer Counselors are cancer survivors themselves. They understand how important it is to have someone to lean on when your world is turned upside down by a cancer diagnosis.
Support Connection must raise all of the funds for their year-round services, so the Support-A-Walk is a very important event!
